Strategy Newsletter - Volume 1, Issue 7, September 2009
I hope this message finds you doing well and that you're enjoying the beginning of Fall. Here is the latest news from what we're seeing in the strategy and business development marketplace, followed by the open positions we're currently working on:
- While we can't say that the recession is officially behind us yet (regardless of political pundit commentary), we can say that the market continues to trend in a positive direction. The next jobs report, to be released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics next Friday, October 2nd, should be telling: if the loss in non-farm payroll positions is less than 200k (a number last seen over 12 months ago), it should be a strong indication that the market is well on its way to actual job growth.
- From our perspective the market for Strategy and Business Development talent continues to move sideways, but we continue to recognize very positive trends that mark a near-term increase in hiring:
- Perhaps most telling, in the last two weeks we've had three companies proactively reach out to us to discuss their needs for strategy talent, which represents the first in-bound calls we've received in close to eight months.
- One top 10 consulting firm recently called us to strategize on off-cycle experienced Manager hiring, which the firm plans to initiate in the near future.
- One big three strategy consulting firm recently extended an offer to an alumni Manager to rejoin the firm. While this is only one data point, it's the first we've heard of consulting firms re-hiring alums for quite some time.
We're working on great opportunities and we want to hear from you! Below you will find a brief summary of each opportunity that we are currently working on, as well as the contact information for the Charles Aris Team Member that is spearheading the search. Please reach out to anyone on my team, or to me directly, to discuss these opportunities in greater detail, or feel free to forward this email along to friends and colleagues that you feel may have an interest in learning more.
